When I was driving Uber the other night, a proud First Nation dad told me that Harry Potter had totally changed his son’s life. He said that when his son was twelve he was so bad at English at school, he could hardly read a newspaper. So, he started reading his boy Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone. After a few chapters his son grabbed the book and started reading himself, then read the rest of the story entirely alone. After that, the boy read all seven Harry Potter books, handing over each edition for his dad to read too. That was ten years ago and father and son have been inveterate readers ever since. If you still need proof of Harry Potter’s magic, then that is it.
