"Invention it might by humbly admitted, does not consist of creating out of a void, but out of chaos." Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly was just 19 when she wrote “Frankenstein”, the novel credited as the invention of science fiction. The full title is “Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus”. Prometheus was the Greek god who have humanity fire, knowledge and foresight to manage the chaos of creation. That might explain her quote about invention arising out of chaos. “Frankenstein” is surprisingly modern in style and well worth reading.
