A PREGNANT MAN

Driving Uber, I dropped off a millennial woman in her 30s talking to her friend on the phone about her first pregnancy, and it made me wonder what it would be like to be a pregnant man in my first trimester. My emotions would be all over the place because of my raging hormones. I’d be exhausted by constant headaches. I might have vomiting, heartburn and bleeding gums. My breasts would hurt and my nipples would leak. I’d have muscle cramps. I might be constipated and have haemorrhoids and I’d have to wear a diaper because of my leaking bladder. And that’s just the start. Then I’d have to give birth. Well, I was there when both my girls were born, and one thing I know for sure, every mother in the world has more courage than I’ll ever have.
